Some Info on Mahindra Tractors
Mahindra Tractors have developed a sterling worldwide reputation to provide farm equipment across six continents. They are the farm equipment sector of the 6.3 billion Mahindra group, one of the top 10 companies in India, which has sectors in infrastructure development, after-market services, information technology, automobile industry, trade, and financial services.
In relation to other leading farm equipment companies throughout the world, Mahindra Tractors ranks among the top three tractor companies. The total volume of sales is about 85,000 unit’s a year. Should demand increase, the company can increase manufacturing capacity to produce more than a 150,000 tractors a year.
The Factory Equipment Sector has six manufacturing plants in India and two in China. These plants are all state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. In addition, it also has three assembly plants in the United States and one in Australia. In all, over a thousand distributors are responsible for the presence of Mahindra tractors in twenty-five countries on six countries.
The company began in India in the year 1963 after it formed a joint venture with International Harvester to manufacture tractors. After mastering the complexities of tractor engineering, it went on to build its first compact tractor, which was called the B-275.
Two decades later, Mahindra Tractors dominated the farm equipment industry in India, providing tractors to the states of Maharshta, Punjab, Haryana, and Gujrat. In the Punjab, the tractors were sold under the name, Swaraj. In Gujarat, the tractors were sold under the name, Mahindra Gujarat. In addition to these primary states, it also provides tractors to many Southern Indian states.
In 1994, Mahindra tractors entered the American market. Today, Mahindra USA, a subsidiary, makes sales throughout the United States of America, with hundreds of tractor dealers selling and servicing the tough, durable, and dependable tractors.
Mahindra USA assembly plants are to be found in Tomball, Texas; Red Bluff, California; and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Here, at these manufacturing plants, no tractor leaves the factory unless it has passed a stringent 51 point inspection, and testing includes both road testing and dynamometer testing.
Despite the level of manufacturing competition in the United States, the company was able to raise awareness about the excellent standards of its tractors by sponsoring NASCAR events and the McDonald Motorsports team.
Still, despite a huge market share in India and the United States, the company continued to expand. Mahindra Tractors entered the Chinese market in 2004.
Besides having their own factory there, the company also has an 80% stake in Jiangling Tractors, a farm equipment division of Jiangling Motor Company.
Then, a year later, in 2005, Mahindra Tractors entered the Australian Market. Mahindra Australia, the subsidiary, is based in Brisbane. Today, 40 Australian dealerships provide tractors to a customer base beyond Australia, including New Zealand, Australasia, Syria, Iran, India, Serbia, Chile, and the USA. In addition, it also provides tractors to many parts of Africa.
In Western and South Australia, McIntosh Distribution are responsible for selling Mahindra tractors.
